L’ICARUS ENSEMBLE nasce nel 1994. Ensemble di livello internazionale è presente in Messico (Festival Cervantino (1996, 2003, 2005), Festival Donatoni (1995, 1996), Forum Manuel Enriquez (2002, 2003, 2005) Oaxaca Festival (2007), in Argentina (Teatro Colon di Buenos Aires (1998)), in Olanda (Gaudeamus Week (1998)), in Belgio (Ars Musica 2004, Bruxelles e Mons), in Inghilterra (Huddersfiel Contemporary Music Festival (2002), Festival Musica 2000 (Cardiff),
Swansea Festival), in Giappone (Art Festival of the New Generation (ensemble in residence) a Tokyo (2000)), Svizzera (Tag fur der Neue Musik, Zurich 2004 e ISMC Lugano 2004), in Croazia (Biennale di Zagabria (2001, 2003, 2005, 2009), Stati Uniti (UK for NY a New York (2001)), Spring Festival of the Italian Music di San Francisco (2008), Egitto (Opera House del Cairo, Opera House di Alessandria nel 2009), Francia Festival Manca di Nizza (2000, 2005, 2008), Italiart a Digione (2009), Festival Deodat de Severac (2007), in Germania (Musikhochschule 1995, 2003 e Gasteig 1996 a Munchen e Theaterhaus Pragsattel di Stuttgart 2003), in Azerbaijan SonorFestival 2003 a Baku, in Indonesia (Giacarta e Bali nel 2009), Irlanda, Romania, Moldavia, Maltafest.
In Italia ha suonato per quasi tutte le maggiori istituzioni e Festivals.
E’ attualmente Ensemble in residenza al Teatro di Reggio Emilia.

Tra le collaborazioni si segnalano quelle con i registi Yoshi Oida (2003) per la realizzazione dell’opera Alex Langer di Verrando, con Daniele Abbado (2004) per l’opera The Rape of Lucretia di Britten e per Miracolo a Milano di Giorgio Battistelli, con Franco Ripa di Meana per Il tempo sospeso del volo, con Francesco Micheli per Fidelio Off (2009), con l’artista Christian Boltanski (2005) per l’installazione “Tant que nous sommes vivants” , con Lorenzo Mijares per De Cachetito Raspado di Trigos, con gli studi Agon, Fabrica (Benetton), con Otolab (Sincronie 2004, 2005, Chew-Z 2006 e Rec 2006 e tutti i concerti legati al progetto “Prove di volo”) con Luca Scarzella (Lips, Eyes, Bang di Francesconi e The Rape of Lucretia di Britten), con Roberto Paci Dalò e i Giardini Pensili per lo spettacolo Organo Magico Organo Laico, con David Ryan, con gli attori John De Leo, Michele De Marchi, Ivana Monti. Le ultime produzioni hanno incluso esponenti della scena elettronica e post techno internazionale quali Staalplaat Soundsystem, (Olanda), Pan Sonic (Finlandia), Matmos (USA), Andi Toma dei Mouse on Mars (Germania). Tra i direttori ospiti si segnalano Giorgio Bernasconi, Pietro Borgonovo,Erasmo Gaudiomonte, Giovanni Landini, Andrea Molino, Renato Rivolta, Yoichi Sujiama, Juan Trigos, Pierre André Valade, Pierangelo Valtinoni, Jonathan Webb. Icarus si è spesso unito ad altri ensembles quali Alter Ego, Neuevocalsolisten (Germania) e Cantus (Croazia) , Coro Claudio Merulo per progetti speciali.
Sono regolarmente ospiti di trasmissioni radiofoniche sulla Rai e i loro concerti sono passati per le reti nazionali giapponesi, messicane, argentine, olandesi, francesi, svizzere, rumene e azerbaigiane.
Hanno inciso per Ricordi, Stradivarius, Bottega Discantica, Sincronie, Ariston, Spaziomusica.

The latest productions have included interpreters from the international electronic and post-techno arena such as Staalplaat Soundsystem, (Holland), Pan Sonic (Finland), Matmos (USA), Andi Toma of “Mouse on Mars”(Germany). Among the conductors the ensemble has hosted are are the likes of Giorgio Bernasconi, Pietro Borgonovo, Erasmo Gaudiomonte, Giovanni Landini, Andrea Molino, Renato Rivolta, Yoichi Sujiama, Juan Trigos, Pierre Andre Valade, Pierangelo Valtinoni and Jonathan Webb. Icarus has often joined in special collaborative projects with other ensembles such as Alter Ego, Neuvocalsolisten (Germany) and Cantus (Croatia), Coro Claudio Merulo. The ensemble is regularly a guest of RAI radio programs and its concerts have been broadcast by Japanese, Mexican, Argentinian, Dutch, French, Swiss, Romanian and Azerbaigianian national television stations. The ensemble has recorded for major recording companies such as, Ricordi, Stradivarius, Bottega Discantica, Sincronie, Ariston and Spaziomusica.
